Community Sponsored Events
By organizing an event you can help support The Jane Lloyd Fund.
Here are some past community sponsored events and ideas.
Plan a Pink Day
For many years Indian Mountain School celebrated Pink Day to increase awareness of breast cancer and raise money for the Jane Lloyd Fund. Students wore tie-dyed shirts while older community members and faculty dressed in every imaginable shade of pink! Athletic fields were transformed into a frenzy of pink soccer balls and fans of the outlandishly dressed teams donned pink socks, hats, and sneakers. The infectious spirit of the day was exceeded only by its record-breaking gift!
Take the Plunge
More than 100 Hotchkiss students and several intrepid faculty members braved the icy waters of Lake Wononscopomuc to be part of The Jane Lloyd Fund Polar Plunge in years past. After taking the plunge, swimmers warmed themselves by a bonfire and enjoyed food, drinks, and s’mores. View more Polar Plunge photos. “The Plunge was a great success, from the impressive amount of money raised (over $1500) to the large participation.”
Set Up Super Bowl Squares
One devoted volunteer and her husband set up a 50-50 Super Bowl Grid raffle for which they sold 200 boxes and raised over $2500! This is a great way to get your friends, colleagues, and family involved!
Shop the FFA Holiday Sale
One of our region’s favorite holiday traditions is the Housatonic Valley Regional High School’s FFA holiday sale where students sell wreaths, trees, garlands, and other seasonal merchandise. These inspiring high schoolers donate their impressive proceeds to area food banks and The Jane Lloyd Fund.
Dress-Down for a Day
Does your school have a dress code? Hold a dress down day fundraiser. Past fundraising efforts at Salisbury School have included community carnivals and dress-down days, the most recent of which yielded over $2700!
Support Jane Lloyd at Your Place of Work
Many local businesses have planned events to benefit The Jane Lloyd Fund. Lone Oak campground organized their own cancer awareness day.
Organize a Party
By organizing a party you and your friends can help support The Jane Lloyd Fund. Past examples include ticketed garden parties with all proceeds going to The Jane Lloyd Fund.
Golf for The Jane Lloyd Fund
The Murphy Open, organized by the Tri-State Chamber of Commerce, included a day of golf, on-course contests, a raffle and silent auction. The Jane Lloyd Fund was so grateful to be chosen as the 27th Annual beneficiary.
Would you like to suggest or host an event to benefit The Jane Lloyd Fund?
Why not organize your own fundraiser? Local children have opened lemonade stands for the Jane Lloyd Fund, schools have sponsored two-generation basketball games and friends have hosted bike rides. This is a great way to get your friends, colleagues, and family involved; please contact us if you have questions about how to get started. Thank you!
