INDIAN MOUNTAIN SCHOOL PINK WEEK!

The IMS community came together to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month and The Jane Lloyd Fund with Pink Sock Week. The halls and classrooms on both the Upper and Lower Campuses were awash in pink to raise awareness for the cause. Students, faculty, and staff purchased pink socks, headbands, and sweatbands to show their support. On Wednesday and Friday, each student-athlete wore pink socks or shoelaces and played with pink equipment at their athletic events. Some students set up concessions to sell, such as breast cancer awareness hats, key chains, stickers, snacks, and drinks. In addition, students and faculty will be donated money to wear denim and pink on Friday in lieu of regular school dress. This was the most successful Pink Week fundraiser having raised $1984.00!!

This event was sponsored by Indian Mountain School's Community Service Program and the Athletic Department as they continue to support their
school motto: life through service.

The 10th Annual Spring Splash!
March 16, 2014

So you think winter was lonnnng & cold? Try jumping into the lake on March 16th with a temperature of 28 degrees!  After cutting through 18” inches (!!!) of ice, that’s exactly what these brave & hearty souls did to raise funds for two wonderful, local causes. The 10th annual Spring Splash benefitting the Housatonic FFA Alumni John Rice Scholarship and The Jane Lloyd Fund held at Lake Wononscopomuc (Lakeville Lake) was, once again, a huge success. Thank you to all who donated, helped, cheered, and especially to those who “splashed” and froze their you-know-what’s off! See you again next spring!

The Kent Center Mother Daughter Basketball Game
January 10, 2014

Once again moms and daughters battled it out on the basketball court for the 10th annual (and final!) Kent Center Mother Daughter Basketball Game. It is always an entertaining evening, and although the moms lost the game, a fun time was had by all! The Jane Lloyd Fund is so very grateful to Mary Ann VanValkenburg for being such a devoted supporter and to all the moms and daughters, past and present, who participated over the past 10 years.  It's been a great ride and we hope our paths cross again!

Indian Mountain School Pink Sock Day!
October 18, 2013

The IMS community came together to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month and The Jane Lloyd Fund on Friday, October 18, with Pink Sock Day. During the school day, the halls and classrooms were awash in pink sweaters, shirts, pants, and ribbons to encourage parents who were visiting for Parents Weekend to donate to the fund. Later in the day, each student-athlete wore pink socks or shoe laces at their athletic events, and students without games helped organize and sell refreshments, snacks, baked goods, and a variety of pink items at a concession stand. Many members of the boys varsity soccer team wore "For Jane" shirts underneath their uniform tops that they bought and decorated themselves. Teams played with pink balls, and some of the opposing teams who learned of the effort in advance arrived ready to participate with donations, concession items, and pink apparel. "It was one of the best all-around group efforts that I have been a part of," said Athletic Director Courtney Zeiner.

Thank you to the entire IMS community for their support, donations, baked goods, and presence. Special thanks to Sheryl Knapp, Cecilia Marshall, and the Community Service Program; Courtney Zeiner, Joe Del Visco, and the Athletic Department team captions; Colleen Schopp, Ben Schopp and Stadium Systems, and all of the students who baked for the concession stand and donated their time to the cause.

This event was sponsored by our Community Service Program and the Athletic Department as they continue to support their school motto: life through service.

The Kent Center Mother Daughter Basketball Game
January 11, 2013

On Friday, January 11th, the mothers and daughters of Kent Center School gathered for their 9th annual Mother Daughter Basketball game. It was an action packed game with a lot of energy and laughs. The daughters won the game a lot to a little.  Although, the moms put up a good fight! The Jane Lloyd fund is so grateful to the moms and daughters of Kent for their continued support.  We'll see you next year for another great game!

Century Bike Ride

As part of the Annual Traditional New England Clambake, several local riders take to the bucolic roads in the Northwest Corner and head out in the early morning hours for a 100 mile trek. The route varies from year to year, but always includes a ride by Jane's house in Lime Rock.  Upon their return, the riders are welcomed back to the
clambake festivities!

Indian Mountain School Pink Sock Day
October 26, 2012

On Friday, October 26 students on the Indian Mountain School Upper Campus wore pink athletic socks to their afternoon sporting event in honor of Cancer Awareness Month.  Each of the students donated $5.00 for their socks. All proceeds were donated to the Jane Lloyd Fund.

Here's an excerpt from an email sent by one of the Indian Mountain soccer coaches:

"I just wanted to write you a quick note about the Boys' JV Soccer game.
While we didn't win, we ended up losing 2-3 (our closest score all year!)
in a tight-fought match to a team that had beaten us 8-2 the last time we
had played them.  It was far and away our best game of the season, and I
think the motivation of playing for a cause played a big role in our
success.  Throughout the entire game - at the start of the game, on the
sides lines, and in our half time huddle - the boys kept saying, "Let's
win this for Jane Lloyd!"  When someone on our team scored, someone on the
bench said, "That was for Jane Lloyd!"  It was awfully cute how invested
in the cause they were."

Ironically, two of the Indian Mountain School teams played against Berkshire School...Jane's alma mater.

A heartfelt thank you to the Indian Mountain School students, faculty and staff. And a special thank you to the Community Service Department faculty and the Athletic Department.
