Grateful Thanks
As always, it is our generous sponsors whose donations ensure that 100% of the Clambake proceeds directly assist local cancer patients. Please patronize and thank our leadership sponsors: Salisbury Bank, Litchfield Bancorp, Sharon Hospital/Nuvance Health, Carmody Torrance / Sandak / Hennessey, LLP, Lime Rock Park, and the many generous local businesses (named here) that support cancer patients in our community. See you on July 29!
The Joy of Giving!
On June 5, the Tri-State Chamber of Commerce hosted 64 golfers who tackled The Links at Unionvale's spectacular course on behalf of The Jane Lloyd Fund. Through sponsorships, raffle baskets, food donations, and more, over 35 local businesses-many of whom sponsor the Clambake!-contributed to the annual Murphy Open and raised thousands of dollars for community members living with cancer. This is the second time in five years that The Jane Lloyd Fund has been the beneficiary and we are not only deeply grateful to the Tri-State Chamber but humbled by the thoughtful generosity of our local businesses and their commitment to fortifying our communities. Thank you all!!
Rick Cantele Reflects on Salisbury Bank's Past, Present, and Future with The Jane Lloyd Fund
Rick Cantele is a Salisbury native and the long-time president of Salisbury Bank, a Clambake sponsor since the event's inception 16 years ago. Rick grew up with Jane Lloyd and kindly answered questions about the bank's long friendship with The Jane Lloyd Fund.
Q: When Jane's cancer prevented her from working, community members opened an account for Jane at Salisbury Bank. Do you have any memories of that?
Rick: "I do remember-before crowdfunding options such as GoFundMe existed-people would often open an account at the bank, put an article in the paper, and use word of mouth to support local people who experienced tragedies such as illness, accidents, fires, etc. In Jane’s case, she grew up here so she and her family knew many people. I had gone to high school with Jane and her brother Jeff. Many people stepped up and funded the account so that she had money to help pay her bills while she was unable to work."
Q: As the sponsor of the kiln, Salisbury Bank has been the Clambake's lead sponsor for over a decade. Why?
Rick: "Salisbury Bank has proudly supported the Clambake because one of the bank’s core values is to “do the right thing” and in this case, we know that the funding that we provide goes directly to those in need in the communities that we serve. We believe that as a responsible corporate citizen the” right thing” is to support our communities and organizations, many of whom are customers that have supported the Bank over the years."
Q: How does your Clambake sponsorship reflect the values of Salisbury Bank?
Rick: "At Salisbury Bank and Trust Company, we have a commitment to support, sponsor and volunteer in the communities that we serve. We uphold this commitment by financially supporting various organizations and programs in our community. In addition, our employees annually contribute a considerable amount of time to various volunteer groups. We take pride in our support of many local organizations and continue to look for ways to make a positive difference."
Q: Salisbury Bank is known for its support of the local community. Do you expect that NBT will maintain that commitment?
Rick: "NBT has committed to continuing to support the communities we serve; it is a community bank through and through, which provides for local decision-making when it comes to contributions and support of local organizations. The culture and core values are closely aligned with those of Salisbury Bank. Like Salisbury, their employees are encouraged to volunteer in community activities."
The Jane Lloyd Fund is grateful for Salisbury Bank's dedicated support and looks forward to building on that friendship with NBT. Please be on the lookout for the next Jane Lloyd Fund newsletter which will feature an interview with Christina McCulloch, the President of Sharon Hospital.
We Get By with a Little LOT of Help From Our Friends!
