A Jane Lloyd Fund Recipient’s Mother
Our involvement with the Jane Lloyd Fund began in 2013 when our son, age 26, was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer. At the time, he was a self-employed landscaper who was establishing a business with his brother. He and his soon to be wife had purchased a home and were planning a life together. Sequelae of his medical condition and the serious side effects from treatment, he was unable to work.
Life with cancer is something incomprehensible and we never imagined being on the receiving end of an outpouring of support from the Jane Lloyd Fund. Words of encouragement, positive thoughts and extreme generosity from our community through the Fund made a positive difference in our lives and helped us through each day. Through our experience, we recognized the need to support the Fund and mission. Participating in the annual clambake became one way for us to get involved and to remember and honor our son and people in our community in the true spirit of love, peace and hope. On behalf of my family, I would like to extend heartfelt gratitude and thanks for giving to the Jane Lloyd Fund.
It's been such a pleasure being involved with the Lloyd family, friends and supporters of the fund over the years. Knowing that there are so many people in the community who care has truly helped us in the healing process. One of the reasons that Mark accepted help from the Jane Lloyd Fund was because he understood that people in our community wanted to help and the maintaining his health insurance (made possible by Jane Lloyd Fund grants) was imperative for treatment & care. He was able to get the best possible treatment at MSK and care at home in the place that he loved surrounded by those who loved him ... He took such pride and joy in his life.
'May we all embrace the joy and love which exuded from Mark, Carry it within us, and share it with those around us."

“[The Jane Lloyd Fund was] instrumental in helping us with our car payment, mortgage, and electric bills. It helped us with the simple fact that we didn’t have to worry.”
